Southwest Research Institute(SwRI), a San Antonio-based nonprofit research and development organization, reported Wednesday that it has been selected to receive a $1.2M deal from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
It said the award will go towards developing Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to receive an award of $1.2 million to develop advanced anode materials for lithium-ion batteries. SwRI said the battery technology is part of a research program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Vehicle Technologies, focused on developing high-performance, rechargeable batteries for electric vehicles and hybrid-electric vehicles. Southwest Research has more than 3,200 employees and an annual research volume of more than $564 million.
